Kodi A. Brotherson was admitted to practice law in the State of Iowa in 2005, and has also been admitted to practice in the United State District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa, the District of Nebraska, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Kodi practiced law in Des Moines for nine years before joining Becker & Brotherson Law Offices in January, 2015.
Kodi’s practice focuses on estate planning, including wills and trusts, probate, income tax, real estate transactions, employment law, family law, personal injury litigation, and appeals. In her appellate practice, Kodi has briefed and argued cases before the Iowa Supreme Court, the Iowa Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. She is listed in the Great Plains Super Lawyers for the appellate practice.
Kodi belongs to the Iowa State Bar Association, the Sac County Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. She is also a certified mediator through the International Academy of Dispute Resolution. In 2013, Kodi completed the American Bar Association National Institute for Trial Advocacy and the Family Law Trial Advocacy Institute.
Kodi graduated from Newell-Fonda High School. After graduation, she attended Simpson College, graduating summa cum laude with her Bachelor of Arts in psychology and criminal justice. After college, Kodi received her law degree from Drake University Law School where she graduated with highest honors and as a member of the Order of the Coif. She and her husband live and farm west of Breda.
